The article presents the basic issues related to stress, i.e. how stress affects the body, what brain structures are involved in the response to stress, what neurotransmitters are released in response to stress, and what brain structures may suffer the most as a result of chronic stress. In addition, several methods are described that can help prevent the effects of chronic stress.
