3rd Central European Biomedical Congress was held in Kraków

Under the title  "News on biomarker discovery and research innovations in medicine and biomedical sciences", the 3rd edition of Central European Biomedical Congress was held in Kraków, on 15-18 September 2018.

The congress was jointly organized by the Institute of Pharmacology of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Kraków and the Jagiellonian University Medical College, Faculty of Medicine with cooperation with Polish Pharmacological Society and Polish Society of Toxicology. Over 250 participants from 14 countries took part in the congress, presenting their research via oral presentations, thematic sessions and posters. The congress brought together distinguished speakers and outstanding researchers, the laureates of prestigious European Research Council awards from various European countries, including Germany, Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway, Italy, Sweden, Great Britain, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary and Czech Republic.

A wide range of topics, including medical and non-medical applications of psychoactive substances, pharmacogenomics, nanotechnology in nanomedicine, neurodegenerative and mental diseases, rare diseases, obesity and diabetes, attracted scientists representing diverse fields of science, clinicians of various specialties, pharmacists, pharmacologists, biologists, biotechnologists, chemists, toxicologists, as well as students of biomedical faculties. Young researchers and PhD students had an opportunity to present their achievements during a special scientific session dedicated to young scientists.

The conference was supported by numerous well-known pharmaceutical and biotech companies that had an opportunity to present themselves during the event, which undoubtedly promotes interdisciplinary research and closer cooperation between science and industry. The congress benefited from the honorary patronage of Kraków Mayor, Director of the National Science Center, Vice President of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Rector of the Jagiellonian University, Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Technology, the Regional Chamber of Physicians and the Regional Pharmaceutical Chamber in Krakow. The Honorary Committee included: Director of the Institute of Pharmacology of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Prorector of the Jagiellonian University Collegium Medicum and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the Jagiellonian University Collegium Medicum.
